Your business has moved on.
Has your website?
If it’s become muddled, dated or simply isn’t pulling its weight, I’ll work out what needs changing – then get on with changing it.
Strategy, structure, messaging, content and practical implementation.
You know something isn’t quite right.

Sound familiar?
That’s the sort of thing I can sort.
What I actually do

Strategy & positioning
Who are you trying to reach, what matters to them and why should they choose you?

Structure
Can people quickly find what they need and understand how your services fit together?

Messaging & copy
Does the website say the right things, clearly and in language your customers actually understand?

Customer journey
Is it obvious where visitors should go and what they should do next?

Content
Are important service pages, FAQs, case studies or other useful information missing?

Implementation
And yes – I can actually make the agreed changes to your existing website.
I don’t automatically recommend a new website
Some websites genuinely need a total rebuild.
If your existing site works, I’d rather make better use of it than suggest an expensive rebuild simply for the sake of something shiny and new.
I concentrate on the customer-facing side: what the website says, how it’s organised, what’s missing and whether it helps people take the next step.
I’m not a web developer, hosting company or security specialist – and I won’t pretend otherwise.
I make the website make more sense.
I won’t just tell you what needs changing
Sometimes all you want is an independent view of your website and a clear idea of what to do next.
But if what you really want is for someone to take the problem off your hands, I can do that too – from working out what needs changing to rewriting, restructuring and implementing the agreed improvements.
So you don’t end up with an excellent plan that sits untouched in a folder for the next six months.

Sometimes the copy is the problem.
Sometimes it isn’t.
A beautifully written page still won’t achieve much if it’s the wrong page, in the wrong place, aimed at the wrong person or asking visitors to do the wrong thing.
That’s why I look at the whole website:
Who is coming to it?
What are they looking for?
What do they need to know?
What might stop them taking the next step?
And how should everything fit together?
Then we can worry about the individual sentences.

When you know your business inside out, it’s surprisingly difficult to see your website as a customer does.
You know what that acronym means.
You know you also offer that service.
You know where that important bit of information is hiding.
Your customers don’t.
I ask the questions they would ask, challenge things that don’t make sense and turn what you know about your business into a website they can quickly understand. Preferably without resorting to “innovative end-to-end solutions”.

I’ve spent most of my working life figuring out how to communicate things clearly.
First as a teacher, then through language, translation and editing, and for the past few years through websites, email and marketing content.
These days, I bring all of that together to help businesses make much more of the websites they already have.
Less jargon. Less faffing. Better websites.

My work is particularly suited to established businesses that:
I mostly work with service-based businesses, directly with owners or small marketing teams.

Excellent. I’m not looking to steal their chair.
Web designers and developers build websites. SEO specialists understand search. Designers make things look good.
My bit is working out what the website needs to say, how the content should be structured and what customers need to see – then creating it.
I’m very happy to work alongside your existing designer, developer, SEO consultant or marketing team.
And if you’re one of those people and would quite like somebody reliable to take the strategy and content side off your hands, I’d be happy to talk too.

Not necessarily.
If your current website works technically and gives us enough flexibility to make the improvements it needs, I’d much rather make better use of what you already have.
If I think the underlying site is holding you back, I’ll tell you.
In many cases, yes.
I’m comfortable adding, editing and restructuring content and making straightforward changes to existing pages and features.
For specialist development, hosting, security or other technical work, you may still need your developer or hosting provider.
I consider search when planning and writing website content – including page topics, structure, headings, internal links and search intent.
I’m not a technical SEO specialist, so if your site needs a full technical audit or specialist link-building work, I’ll say so.
Absolutely.
If you already have the strategy, structure and technical side covered, I’m perfectly happy to concentrate on the words.
You don’t need to diagnose the website before you contact me.
Send me the link, tell me what’s bothering you and I’ll suggest the most sensible starting point.
No.
Everything can be booked as a stand-alone project.
If you want me back six months later, lovely. If you don’t need me again for two years, also lovely.
How it works

You tell me about the business, the customers and what’s bothering you.

I look at the site properly – not just whether I like the font – and I consider the messaging, structure, content, customer journey and anything else that might be getting between a visitor and the next step.

I’ll explain what I think needs changing, what matters most and – if you want me to do the work – agree a clear scope and price with you.

I rethink, restructure, write, edit and make the agreed changes to the website.

Not a folder full of ideas for someday, but an improved website that better reflects the business you have now.
You know that website you keep meaning to sort out?
Perhaps it’s time.
Send me the web address and tell me what’s been bugging you.
No hard sell. No obligation to rebuild the internet.
Let’s talk!
